PRESIDENT

I grew up in a multicultural environment in London with a Greek mother and an American father and currently attend Godolphin and Latymer School. Living in a city shaped by migration and cultural diversity sparked my interest in how people—especially children—connect across different backgrounds.

Through Faces of Our World, I have led self-portrait workshops at my school, using art-based activities to help students reflect on identity, empathy, and shared experience. I have also volunteered with The HOME Project in Athens, where I interviewed chefs across several homes for unaccompanied minor children and collected recipes that reflect the cultural backgrounds of the children living there. Drawing on this experience, I helped develope the Recipes Across Cultures initiative, which uses food as a way for students to learn about refugee experiences through storytelling, cooking, and discussion.

I also volunteer with West London Welcome, tutoring adult refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers as they prepare for exams, and have organized fundraisers and a toy drives that supported 285 children in the community.

As president, my focus has been on expanding Faces of Our World’s educational offerings while keeping the initiative closely connected to the experiences of children and families at The HOME Project.

VICE PRESIDENT

I am a student at the International School of Geneva and have lived in Switzerland my entire life. I am half Greek and half Spanish, and growing up in an international environment shaped how I understand culture, belonging, and responsibility.

I have volunteered at shelters in Athens through The HOME Project, where working directly with children and staff motivated me to think about how young people in other countries could learn about refugee experiences in thoughtful, age-appropriate ways.

One of my favorite experiences at The HOME project was making bracelets with young children in the home for Ukrainian orphans. This inspired me to design a friendship bracelet workshop that connects students at my school with children at The HOME Project. Drawing on my long-standing interest in jewelry-making, I developed the activity so students create bracelets that reflect their identities and exchange them with children in Greece as a way to build connection and empathy. I am also working on a small bracelet line designed in collaboration with refugee stories, with proceeds supporting The HOME Project.

In addition to this work, I help organize clothing drives for a local refugee thrift store and support the broader development of Faces of Our World programming.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

I am a student at Carroll High School in Texas and spent many of my early years living in Greece before moving to the United States. Growing up between two countries shaped how I understand culture, language, and belonging, and sparked my interest in using art as a way to help young people connect across differences.

Through Faces of Our World, I am excited to bring the friendship-making initiative to my local art studio and community. Drawing on my background in visual arts and my experience working with children, I plan to lead creative workshops that encourage students to reflect on identity, shared experiences, and respect for others. I spend time in Greece each summer and plan to volunteer with The HOME Project, where I hope to deepen my understanding of refugee experiences and bring those insights back to my school and community in meaningful, age-appropriate ways.

FOUNDER & PRESIDENT (2021-2023)

I founded Faces of Our World in 2021 after looking for a way to contribute to The HOME Project during Covid, when I was unable to volunteer in person. After connecting with HOME Project staff, I learned how important it was to help educate children about refugees in an age-appropriate and meaningful way.

Together, we developed the idea of using self-portrait workshops to help students build empathy and reflect on identity, culture, and shared experience. That initial workshop became the foundation of Faces of Our World.

Over the following years, I developed additional initiatives, including a library program, and recruited other HOME Project volunteers to lead workshops in their own schools and communities, allowing Faces of Our World to grow internationally.

When I left for college in 2023, I stepped back from the presidency but continue to support Faces of Our World as an advisor, helping guide its growth and ensure it remains closely connected to The HOME Project.

PRESIDENT (2023–2024) | ARTISTIC DIRECTOR (2022–2023)

I became involved with Faces of Our World as its Artistic Director after volunteering with The HOME Project in Athens and leading art workshops in several shelters. Through this work, I saw how creative projects could help children share their stories and connect across cultures.

I brought Faces of Our World workshops to my school and community in Florida, where I led self-portrait workshops, organized exhibitions, and adapted the curriculum for different classroom settings. During my time as president, I helped expand the initiative beyond its original format by mentoring younger students, supporting new workshop leaders, and strengthening partnerships with schools.

My work with Faces of Our World reflects my belief that art can be a powerful tool for building empathy and understanding, especially when young people are given the space to tell their own stories.

STUDENT LEADER—GREECE (2022-2024)

Growing up in Greece, I was exposed to the refugee crisis from a young age and wanted to find a meaningful way to contribute. Through Faces of Our World, I led self-portrait workshops with younger students at St. Catherine’s, introducing them to the experiences of refugee children supported by The HOME Project. I designed and delivered classroom presentations, guided students through reflective art activities, and organized a school exhibition that displayed self-portraits created by both St. Catherine’s students and refugee children.

By bringing these portraits together in a shared space, the exhibition emphasized commonality, empathy, and respect, showing younger students that despite different backgrounds and life experiences, children around the world share many of the same hopes and feelings. As Student Leader for Greece, I also helped adapt the Faces of Our World curriculum for school settings and supported the broader goal of connecting classrooms with the work being done at The HOME Project.
